Professors’ Association for Students’ Services (PASS) has successfully conducted webinar on “Critical Thinking, Students & Politics: Theory & Practice” on Saturday, Feburay 27, 2021, 07:00-09:30 PM [PST]. Participants from across the world attended the activity with active involvement. Keynote speakers of PASS webinar included: Dr. Sadia Bajwa (Assistant Professor of History at the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Humboldt University, Berlin) enlightened the participants with regard to Historical Research on Students’ Politics and National Education during 1940s and 1950s, wherein, she highlighted the significance of the formation of Students’ Unions for students’ activism to legitimately channellize their concerns to the respective quarters and in the current situation too. Following in the session, Mr. Jonathan Haber, an educational consultant at Degree of Freedom, researcher and writer of the Book of Critical Thinking (2020) eloborated the precise and genuine meaning of Critical Thinking from academic and social perspective. To him, the skills of critical thinking could well be developed amongst students in their classroom settings as well as in their interaction with other authoritative figures and also pointed out the role of argument, persuasion and background knowledge enabling the individuals to think critically on any subject matter.
At the end of their talks, questions were properly answered up to the level of participants’ satisfaction. PASS webinar was concluded by President, PASS (Prof. Ahsan-ur-Rahim) offered a vote of thanks to the participants, organizers and especially PASS respectable speakers towards the end.
